Lots of lots of dye test

fall pallet...I am loving this one. Already have a bunch of scarfs made up in this. Might be my favorite so far.

Another possible fall pallet... I have a few made up in this one too but am still on the fence about it.

Driftwood

The heavy rain the east coast had last week caused high tides and major flooded along the Susquehanna river.

Which has caused lots and lots of debris in the bay, and on our beach.

Last night while we were racing the Wednesday night series we had to dodge all the branches and logs that were poking out of the water.

After seeing a mirror made of drift wood a few years back at Anthropologie that was over $1500 I started collected the pieces that would wash up on our little sand spit or that I picked up off the beach down at the ocean.

Over the last 2 days i've been able to add a lot to my collection.

and thats just what I pulled out of the water around the dock and shoreline this morning.

Now im trying to decide what to make with all of the driftwood.

Studio - Orchid Flower Garland

Over the labor holiday weekend, one of my good friends younger brother got married. His bride really wanted flower garlands to hang around the Gazebo they were getting married under in her wedding colors of pink, yellow, and white.

So I took a break from all the bags and jewelry and put these together for her.

I laid the flowers out in the order I wanted to put them on the strings first, and it took up almost my entire work space. Which look so pretty and delicate I couldnt resist snapping a few pictures of them.

I made the bride a cute little pouch in hand dyed natural canvas with some old crocheted lace from my grandmothers collection along the front. I also painted her wedding date on the internet back wall. I thought it went with the "Something Old, and something Blue" Theme nicely.

Monday Inspration (on Tuesday)- Pulled Taffy

Its no secret that I love candy.

So when we were at the grocery store the other day, and I found this old fashion pulled taffy and they were half price, I had to get one in every flavor they had.

Not only were the wonderful tasting and smelling. Wild Cherry, Lemonade, Cotton Candy, and Grape were my favorites. The colors which peek thru the wrapper were bright and beautiful once opened. They reminded me of watercolors they way to colors blended to make other shades.

And was also quite relevant to the watercolor treatments I am doing on fabric lately.

The taffy is by Hammond's Candies and a quick visit to there website I found out they are located only 10 miles from my friends house in Denver and they do factory tours. Looks like I found something ill be doing when I am there in a couple months.

They also sell all their different candy creations on there site, the one that has caught my eye is Vanilla Mitchell Sweets which is a marshmallow dipped in vanilla caramel. What could be better?

Up and running again!

So our power is back on, and the internet is up and working again...

Miss Irene was a little bit of a disappointing storm in my opinion. Our power went in and out about 20 times thru out the storm. But never stayed off for longer then 5 minutes until the next day. Our internet and TV were out for a few days... which is almost just as bad as not having power for me. But other then that and a couple a big branches that came down we didn't have any issues, and the water didn't even come up over the dock.

I should feel lucky however, because the houses across the creek from us still do not have power. And quite a few other houses around the area, mainly my brother who has taken up residence on our couch until his is back on.

I saw this picture on NatGeo and it made me laugh.
